The best robot vacuum can sweep and vacuum your floors with no effort. It will also leave the floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are pluses.
Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled as well as large debris and clean them as needed. 1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have tested. They are equipped with motors that are top of the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture legs. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature that increases its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance which means it's susceptible to become entangled in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't come with a camera to look around corners.
It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also quiet and works while you are at work or school. The only thing it doesn't have that you don't get in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can sweep floors. robot vacuum cleaners reviews and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and efficient in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also features a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This top-performing combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time for more efficient cleaning. You can alter the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. Its battery life is average in comparison to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. The flex arm is perfect to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had mixed flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds and cables.
It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically empties into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums it, something we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that appears like a regular Roomba rather than the boxy units, this robot vacuum and mop combo is among the most attractive looking models in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It features advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads on its own).
It's the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has an intuitive mobile application interface, and it is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit, which can be an issue if you use it in the morning prior to work or in the evening as you try to sleep.
It's also quite expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however it will cost you more and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device, similar to Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the vacuum's bin, refills the water tank, and cleans and drys mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to create floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the home based on how dirty those areas are.
For larger houses it's recommended to choose a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have number of furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to resume where it left off can be very useful.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It vacuums well, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a rotating motion which is cleaner than the majority of the mop cleaners with robots that we've examined. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. robot vacuums reviews can be used to design cleaning schedules or to set up the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to prioritize the most soiled areas for better performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras appear like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less user-friendly app and a small base station that doesn't double as an emptying bin.
